What is an Occupational
Disease?
An occupational
disease is a health problem caused by exposure to a workplace health hazard. The
workplace health hazard can cause kinds of reactions in the body: immediate reactions,
gradual reactions or delayed reactions. So, the recognition of a disease as being
occupational is a specific example of clinical decision-making.
Identification and Recognition
of Occupational Disease:
The identification and recognition of occupational disease
is according to the causal relationships established on the basis of clinical data
and medical records, occupational background and job analysis, evaluation of occupational
risk factors and the general criteria of occupational diseases. As the result, deciding
on the cause of a disease as being occupational is a professional decision-making
and it needs a critical review of all the available evidence.
Occupational Examinations In Iran:
In Iran ,According to Chapter 4, Article 92 of The Labor Law ,shall perform pre-employment
physical examinations of labors at the time of employment.

health examinations of current labors.

performed on a regular basis. Health surveillance examination historical records
shall be prepared and distributed to labors.
