About World Heart Day

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), including heart attacks and strokes, are the number one cause of death globally: more people die annually from CVDs than from any other cause.
World Heart Day takes place on 29 September each year:
World Heart Day was created in 2000 to inform people around the globe that heart disease and stroke are the world’s leading cause of death, claiming 17.3 million lives each year and the numbers are rising.
